Insurance: know your rights right away

The truth is: It is your legal right to select where to have your vehicle repaired after an accident. While your Insurance Company might ‘recommend’ a facility, the fact of the matter is that it is ultimately your decision.

Robins Body and Paint Shop work independently for you the customer not the insurance company, so you can be assured that your vehicle will receive quality parts and the quality repair. You don’t have to go to your insurance company’s preferred or recommended vendors. Your insurance company must honor your decision where to get your vehicle repaired.

However; we work with all vehicle insurance companies. As collision repair professionals we interact with motorist insurance companies daily. We know their procedures and policies and how to work efficiently with your Insurance Company to their satisfaction as well.

A vehicle accident is one of the most stressful events in life. Our staff works hard to ease your anxiety while restoring your vehicle with proficiency, even to the point of providing you with an estimate of the completion time.

What to do after a collision

Even a level-headed person can become disoriented during the aftermath of a car crash, so it is important to plan ahead so you can be prepared if you ever become involved in an accident involving your vehicle.

Keep this list in mind, or save this page on your phone.

  1. First of all, please stay calm. Try not to become too agitated as it will add to your confusion and can possibly raise your blood pressure.
  2. If you merely witness the accident and it is possible, pull over out of the way and stop your car. If you are involved in the accident, stop the car and wait for the authorities to arrive.
  3. Call the police and request an officer to come take a report.
  4. If needed, call 911 and request an ambulance.
  5. Wait until the police and/or ambulance arrives. Continue to remain calm. Try to keep everyone else calm as well.
  6. Make your statement to the police. Answer any questions they have honestly, but avoid making statements in which you take the blame for the collision. If you believe that there are witnesses to the accident, you should inform the police about them.
  7. Take photos of the accident, including your vehicle, any other vehicles that are involved, wreckage from the accident, and anything else that is related to the accident.
  8. Ask for a copy of the police report. You may not be able to get one until a later date, so be sure that you get the officer’s name and any identifying numbers for the report.
  9. Call your insurance company.
  10. Call Robins Body and Paint Shop and set up an appointment to have all of your auto body needs taken care of along with any collision repairs that you need.
